Matthew Lloyd’s one-off appearance for the Latrobe Demons on Good Friday brought national exposure to the opening round of the NTFL.
The former Essendon champion kicked seven goals for the Demons in his cameo role as he fulfilled a promise to new Latrobe president Rick Slatter.
Lloyd’s first appearance since he retired in 2009 created a lot of interest with a record match day crowd of 3900 people attending as well as extensive news coverage by all sections of the media.
His progress became a point of interest on the Footy Show on Channel 9 on which Lloyd is a panelist and then again on his Monday night gig on Footy Classified.
It has set the scene for plenty of publicity coming the NTFL’s way with former Richmond and St Kilda forward Justin Plapp playing regularly and the appearance of ex-Sydney Swans star Michael O’Loughlin and Carlton’s Anthony Koutoufidis with the Two Blues later in the season.
